Right now.
A living snapshot of what I'm building, publishing, and thinking about. Inspired by Derek Sivers' Now page convention.
What I'm working on.
What I'm putting out.
Building Value — the podcast is ongoing. I record conversations with people who've actually built things — in media, technology, and the creator economy — and try to extract what's actually true from what sounds good in retrospect. Find it at linktr.ee/jasonnellis ↗.
I also publish longer essays through The Long Yes on Substack — when there's something worth more than a post. Subscribe ↗. Not on a schedule — on a threshold.
What's holding my attention.
The gap between what AI companies say about their products and what operators actually experience building with them. There's a lot of distance there right now, and it's getting wider before it gets narrower.
Also: what it means to build a durable audience right now, when the platforms that control distribution keep changing the terms. The creator economy premise — that individual voice has durable value — is being tested in interesting ways.
And the question underneath all of it: how do you actually turn an artist into a business without destroying what made them an artist. The creator economy has spent a decade optimizing for attention and growth. The harder problem — and the one I find more interesting — is building the revenue architecture and sustainable models that let a creator run a real business without becoming a marketing department. That's still largely unsolved, and I don't think the platforms are the ones who'll solve it.
Where I am.
Based in Cannes, France with my family. We moved to Europe in 2025 to redesign how we spend our time — the kind of choice that makes complete sense in retrospect and is mostly terrifying in the moment. It's been both.
Available for remote work and travel as needed. I get to North America a few times a year and move around Europe regularly.
